Tacoma police captured a suspect in a series of cannabis dispensary burglaries after a high speed chase when officers responded to an incident at a shop.

Washington police apprehended an armed in connection with a string of cannabis dispensary burglaries following a brief high-speed chase last month.

The arrest happened Sept. 15 when Tacoma police responded to the second burglary at a cannabis dispensary after just a few hours, the department stated in a Facebook post. When officers reached the shop, several masked suspects escaped out the back to waiting vehicles.

A chase ensued into King County, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The suspects were thought to be responsible for multiple dispensary burglaries, according to KCPQ-TV.

"Considering the seriousness of the crime, the suspects' involvement in a series of burglaries, and the time of day with minimal traffic, officers initiated the pursuit," the department stated in its post.

The 10-minute pursuit ended in an apartment complex parking lot. A K-9 was deployed when a suspect who had seen carrying a gun during the burglary fled on foot.

Officers and the K-9 caught up with the suspect, who was taken into custody. The other suspects in the incident are still at large.
